These cups are decorated with a method called sgraffito. The cup is made from dark clay, then coated with slip, a liquid clay, usually in a lighter color. A design is carved onto the cup and when the piece is glazed and fired the decorative carvings appear on the surface. Handmade by a member of our Interpretative Artisans Program in the Crafts Center here at Plimoth Patuxet, each is slightly different. Sgraffito designs and shapes vary with each piece; please allow us to choose for you. Sold individually.
Note: Plimoth Pottery is not subject to discounts.
