Handmade Clay Marble
Playing marbles is an ancient game and the children who sailed on the Mayflower very likely brought clay marbles with them which helped to while away the tedious time on the 66-day journey to America. (Just imagine how many times they asked “Are we there yet?”)
The potters here at the Museum hand-roll our marbles, one by one, and glaze each one by hand before placing in the kiln. Children from the 17th century would recognize these marbles and know how to play a variety of games. Buy one, or a bagful. And consider adding our marble games booklet to your purchase so you and the children you know can learn something old every day.
Sold individually.
